About Paul Frew

Counselling grounded in professional knowledge, lived experience and respect

Through Counselling offers an affirming space where adults can explore their experiences without pressure to mask, perform or explain away who they are.

Why this work matters to Paul

Paul became a counsellor because he saw how often people are asked to fit into support that was never designed with them in mind. Too many adults describe being told they were “doing fine” while quietly exhausting themselves to keep up.

His interest in neurodiversity grew from both professional practice and relevant lived experience. That combination shapes how he listens: with familiarity rather than surprise, and with an understanding that processing, communicating or regulating differently is not a fault to be fixed.

Lived experience informs empathy, but sessions are never about Paul. The focus stays on your experience, your language and your goals — in a space where you are respected and understood.

Paul’s story

The dog in the logo

The small dog within the Through Counselling mark is personal. It represents a transitional object — the kind of steady, comforting presence that helps someone move between one stage of life and another.

Counselling can work in a similar way: a reliable point of connection while things change. That idea of comfort, transition and companionship sits at the centre of how Paul works.
